Today I scanned in the airlock shots. I have to color them still. I did this drawing in two layers. The empty airlock and then the astro-kids. I'll be layering the space suits over the top of the airlock. And that's where I'm at. I've started sketching thumbnails for the next drawing which will be the surface of neptune with an alien snowman and stuff, and the ship blasting off in the background.

Ok, the third drawing I wasn't really sure how I was going to do it without showing the kids flying the thing. I settled for showing the cockpit with the computer set to auto.

This time I needed to represent some safety gear and continue on without showing the actual children since this will be a variable book and I'd like to avoid having to create multiple illustrations for each page for now.

For some reason Mary didn't like the natural sky. I thought it was a real shame because I thought it added an extra element of visual interestingness. As an alternative, I livetraced it and made it a 4 color vector representation of the photo. I'll do both for each shot that has a sky showing and in the end perhaps one or the other will be more clearly the better choice.
